Greg didn't call but he did make it home. My friend who was watching the kids called me about 11 pm Utah time to see if I knew where Greg was! He was supposed to be home at 8! She said his flight was delayed, but according to airline personnel, it had landed an hour late and they were on the flight but Dave couldn't find them anywhere. She called me shortly thereafter to tell me they had come on a different flight and had just landed. I knew something funky had happened, or Greg would have called them to let them know they had been delayed.

He said later that they made it to Newark, then waited around all day for their flight home. Apparently it routed through Chicago (which I didn't know) and there was some pretty severe weather there. The flight from Newark was delayed by an hour, but they did make it on that one – maybe that's what the airline people meant. Once they got to Chicago, they found out that the remainder of their flight to SLC had been canceled.

The announcer told everyone to talk to customer service. Greg stood in line and he said in 45 minutes they had helped like 2 people. He noticed that the next gate over had a flight to SLC just getting ready to leave so he left the boys in one line and went and asked if he could get on it. They had already finished boarding, but they held the flight to let them on! Yay! But no time to call!

I'm sure they were handing out meal and hotel vouchers in the other line, but he said he just really wanted to get home. If that happens to me, I might be tempted to spend the night. :) It's just such a long trip. He said he got maybe 4 hours of sleep in 48 – yuck! I did spend the night in NY on the way home from Romania and was happy to do so. :) It makes the jet lag just a little better. Anyway, he made it, but I didn't hear from him today. Oh, when I did talk to him, he told me that the food was pretty scarce on the way home. A 17-hour long flight with only 2 meals, then a long lay-over, then a 6 or 7 hour flight with a bag of pretzels. Yippee. He said they were all pretty hungry by the time they finally got to SLC and could get some food. We're forewarned now. Poor guy.
